We raised $1400 for Relay 4 Life in mom's name. She has a SURVIOR shirt...purple, her favorite color. The event was exhausting, lasting from 7 pm to 7 am the next day, but we had a great time raising the money so that just maybe someday there will be a cure for cancer.
For those of you that have never attended a Relay 4 Life, it is so emotional. They call everyone together to announce the surviors and have a special lap just for them. I was so proud to walk for my mom and carry the Relay 4 Live Caregivers banner around the track. Hopefully next year, mom will feel up to attending herself even if she is riding in a golf cart as many of the people did.
We have lots of photos but I cannot locate the camera connector to download them, but will keep hunting.
Our team members walking for mom: Kevin, Michelle, Jolene & Justine Woerner / Thom, Ginny & Wyatt Kirk / Terri Gauby / Rosie Steel / Ashley Stewart / Audry Stewart / Traci Turner. Wether they walked one or one hundred laps their support is very appreciated. Also an extra thanks to Thom & Ginny for their tents!
Our financial supporters for mom: Gayle Bekemeyer, Misty Kier, Rosie Steel, Christy Gilliam, Kelly Stamm, JoAnn Nider, Don & Barb Long, Jimmy Mohler, Leila Nutter, Janet Holley, Carla & Derry McGuire, Daryl & Joy Jepson, Deb Tegethoff, Jack Dieckman, Dr. Randall Hafner, Marion Bailey, Charles Werns & June Jepson, Kent Woerner, Greg & Patti Smith, Phyllis Smith, Raymond & Evelyn Woerner, Linn Willow Creek Dairy, Raymond & Bonnie Hinz, Jennifer Blair, Trisha Kroll, Tammy Sutterman, Dawn Desai, Lynette Boheman, Merry Roop, Marcia Funke, Judy Sifers, Kathleen Suiter, Harriet Bates, Ron & Cheryl Smith, Kannette Stewart and Lavone Stewart.
There were also additional donations made to the Relay in our team's name...so thank you who ever you are! Michelle

So proud of the job you did for the relay Michelle. It was our honor to contribute. We too look forward to sis attending the event next year!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Michelle! The amount you raised was awesome and I am so proud that you were there to walk for your mom. I just want to let everyone know that I will be walking in the Relay for Life at Jackson Heights on August 7-8 with a team from Soldier Christian Church. This is a cause I have always felt passionate about and now more than ever as I see my wonderful sister-in-law and friend fight such a courageous battle. As most of you know, cancer took the life of Ron's and my dad when he was only 55. It also took the life of three of his brothers. For Cheryl, for Dad, for Uncle Ernie, Uncle Wayne, and Uncle Eldon and for the thousands whose life ended too quickly, we must find a cure! If you were not able to donate to the Washington Relay, please know that you may make a donation to this one. It all goes to once and for all put an end to cancer! Any donations may be sent to me at Mom's home: Barbara Long, 220 Friend St., Soldier, KS 66540. Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Barb

We continue to lift you all up in prayer and look forward to seeing you in Soldier sometime soon! Take Care!
ReplyDeletePurple is my favorite color too! Chimi's is blue. May God bless the walk for life.
