We made it!

Thanks to all of your prayers and support I was able to get chemo today - wow the prayers were really powerful as the count was 142 which is in the normal zone. We are hoping the platelets wont't go down much before next weeks treatment. 80 is still going to be our magic number. My hemoglobin even went up to 10.0. The doctor is very pleased and hopes we can make my body accept the drugs. Keep those prayers coming - we appreciate it. Cheryl

Still thinking 80!

Had a good day - rhis is mine and Ron's birthday (he's a year older) so my mom and Chuck came down and we went to Red Lobster for lunch. Came home and had homemade strawberry pie which my mom made along with some cinnamon rolls. I guess her being so active keeps her fit and thin. Will give update tomorrow after doctor's visit. Think 80 or above. Cheryl

Pictures from Soldier trip

THINK 80!

I saw my couselor yesterday and she told me to think "80" for the platelet count this week, even if I have to put notes all over the apartment and imagine an asembly line making 80"s. What ever works, I just have to be able to get chemo this week. Early this am (7:45) we were leaving to go to my leg rehab consult when they called and cancelled due to illness - will do next week. Still feeling good though. Think 80 so we can get chemo started again. Cheryl

A picture is worth a thousand words!

Having a fairly uneventable weekend. Friday we ran errands to get more oxygen, groceries etc. I love getting out of the apartment and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Saturday, Jasmine was complaining that her left foot was swollen and very painful - fearing a stress fracture - she decided to go to urgent care at Children's Mercy. Her mom was working, so much against Ron's advice I said I could go with her. She knows how to handle getting me in and out of the van with oxygen and all and she can drive. The family won't let me drive! She could walk on her foot very carefully.

Well 4 hours later, no fracture, but she is non weight-bearing and on crutches for a few days. Imagine us going out to the car - I can handle my wheelchair as long as there aren't any hills. Part way to the car so good but here comes an incline. Jasmine thinks she can help - since is was only about 40 feet to the car, I just got out of my chair with O2 and pushed it like a walker - my legs only work so long before they get weak. We made it - Jasmine put wheelchair in van while on crutches. We just laughed when we got in the van - had to be there! Ron couldn't believe. Guess we try anything for our grandkids.

Going to a rehab on Tuesday am to see what we can do for these legs (tree trunks). They are so swollen and hurts when walking. Up until now they have been afraid of dislodging blood clots. I take 2 shots of blood thinner every day so hopefully it is working - certainly is uncomfortable - I hate needles.

Just waiting to see doc on Thursday - is so depressing as things were going good. Will keep in touch.

Keep the prayers coming please - Cheryl
