Are you still there?
I thank you for your love and support during Cheryl's courageous fight with cancer. It helped us so much to be able to share with you what was happening and know that you were sending positive thoughs and prayers for Cheryl every step of the way. Your emails, cards and blog comments meant so much to Cheryl and I. Because of you, we did not feel alone on the journey and it made all the difference. Some may say that our prayers were not answered because the journey ended in death, but I do not agree. Cheryl and I were blessed with more than three months back in Kansas City where she was never in the hospital and felt pretty good. She was able to go to softball games, go shopping, visit at home with friends and family, and make a number of trips to see friends and family. Every time her platelets were up and she received chemo her spirits were lifted. The five months we spent together day and night may well have been some of the best of our more than 42 years together. So our prayers were answered in so many ways and I am so thankful.
I found communication with all of you so helpful that I want to continue to share the happenings in my life and keep up on what's happening in the lives of my friends and family. My daughters and granddaughters are using facebook for this and it seems to work pretty well. I'm in the process of setting up a facebook account myself. So if you're on facebook now or join in the future, look for me at http://www.facebook.com/rongsmith2.
For those in the KC area that could not attend the funeral service, we are looking into holding a celebration of life service for Cheryl in the next few weeks. As soon as plans are finalized I will post them on the blog. Thank you for all your love and support. Ron

Cheryl Is At Rest Now
After the move to the hospital bed, Cheryl began to breath easier as the pain medicine took effect. With many of her family at her side, about 4:30 this afternoon she just stopped breathing. I'm thankful it was so peaceful at the end. And now she is experiencing the ultimate peace. Thank you for being on this journey with her. Ron
