Blood counts
Cheryl had her blood checked this morning and there is good news. Her white count is 1.7 vs. 0.6 yesterday (normal is 4.0 to 11). Sue, the nurse practitioner, said you have enough to fight infection when you get above 1.5. Her hemoglobin is 8.9 (normal is 12 to 16) up slightly and her platelets are at 82 (normal is 140 to 440) so they are coming up too. She has oxygen on low (2L) all the time and turns it up some when she is active. Michelle took her to the hospital lab for the blood check this morning. She used a wheel chair and portable oxygen tank to wheel her from the parking garage to the Diagnostic Center. They went early but there was a long waiting line. Fortuately it moved pretty fast and it only took an hour. Thanks for your prayers. We finally got that white count moving. Ron

You sound great on the phone so I can verify Ron's report. So good to hear you laugh despite all the adversity you've been through. Think your visitors have something to do with it?
ReplyDeleteHello Again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great report! Plus you are at the apartment where you can spend time with Shelly and the girls! Praise the Lord!! My prayer will be that both of you are able to get a lot of rest and will be able to relax and enjoy your stay away from the hospital. Also, that your blood continues to improve each time it is checked! Please give my love to Shelly--I am so glad she is there with you both--and give Jolene and Justine a hug from me! Maybe you can play a game of Shanghi!! Love to all of you! Barb
HURRAY FOR YOUR COUNTS!!!! How awesome to get some good news...must be very encouraging to you guys! Tell Jolene that I enjoyed her interview very much...she did such a nice job and it gave us even more information on Cheryl. I'm sure you guys are enjoying having the girls there. I have been sharing your blog with Ruth and Farell either over the phone or by printing them out as they don't have internet anymore and they really appreciate the updates. Enjoy this special "out of the hospital" time and the big bed and nice apartment....bet it has been along time since you guys had this much "together" time :-) (one small blessing in the midst of hardship!) Know that we are praying for you! Take care! Laura
