Hospital visit

Well, its 12:20 pm on Monday, June 29th and mom is sleeping peacefully in her hospital room. She is on her second round of antibiotics and has had three breathing treatments. It seems to be helping her get her lungs cleared out. She has sat up several times but then goes back to sleep. She did take several sips of a milkshake...and enjoyed it. They are telling us that a couple more days and then her mouth should be healing. They have given her all her meds by iv until she is better able to swallow.
Her white blood count is up a bit but the hemoglobin is back down so she will get another blood transfusion this afternoon.
I've been lucky to get on the internet at the hospital, even in the room this time. Dad called at 11 am after finally getting some sleep. He will be here to trade with me somtime later. It helps us both if we take turns staying with mom. I will be taking a nap of course when I return to the apartment.
I cannot believe my visit is almost over, seems like I just arrived. My flight is scheduled for Tuesday at 12 pm and my kids who only miss me when I'm gone are excited for my return. Stacey should be arriving later tomorrow for her week visit.
Thank you all for keeping mom and the family in your thoughts and prayers. She really enjoys hearing all the comments on the blog so don't be shy.
Michelle

  1. I hope you get to go home soon! I read about your adventures every day. Did you get the card I mailed you? Hope so. When I have even the slighted problem with making my dog mind, I use my "Michelle" voice and that nips it in the bud. Maybe you could try a "Michlle" voice with those blood counts? Thinking of you all. Julie Maloukis and Achmed Michelle Ann Maloukis

  2. Hi Michelle! Thanks for keeping everyone so informed - you guys do such a great job. Please tell your mom that I think of her often and she continues to be in our prayers - in fact all of you. I mailed your mom a card but it came back to me - I forgot to put the apartment #on it!!! So I'll try it again with the #!
    Take care.

  3. Smiths-
Good Morning! Sorry to hear about the rough weekend. Thankful that things seem to be under control again and that everyone is getting their opportunity to rest. Things seem to go easier when we are rested. We are praying hard for you guys and please know that you are in our thoughts and hearts as well. We have a beautiful morning in Soldier today-not too hot yet, not too humid YET! and there is a nice breeze...it was nice enough to have coffee on the deck. Em and I have been painting the limestone on the post office in town and it is looking awesome! It makes it so clean and new looking! Today I should finish there! Hurray! Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you here. It was great to see Phyllis in church on Sunday and she looked good! (June looked good too :-) Farrel's birthday is this week!!! He will be 70! wow! a BIG ONE! and of course the kids are looking forward to the big fireworks on the 4th. We are praying that your meeting with the doctors shows the desired result and you get a good plan! Hang in there....take care of each other and enjoy your time together! Have a wonderful day. Laura

  5. Hi Guys!
Just got a chance to read the blogs from Ron and Shelly that was posted yesterday. I am so glad that Cheryl is resting well and I hope she feels even better tomorrow. Have a good flight home, Shelly! I'm sure your girls will be glad to have you back with them! It was good to talk to Ron on Sunday. Please know that we continue to lift all of you up in our prayers and we will be looking forward to hearing the report from your doctor on Monday, Cheryl. My plans are to fly to KC on Monday, July 6. Doug is going to pick me up so we'll be in Soldier that evening. The first thing I will do when I get there is to check on your blog to see the news! We send to you all our love! Barb
